Recently, Shandong Province has successively issued a number of policies and measures closely related to the construction and ceramics industry.
The architectural ceramics industry is included in the “Two Highs”
First, nine departments including the Shandong Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Department of Industry and Information Technology, and Department of Ecology and Environment issued the "Notice on Further Carrying out the Sorting and Investigation of "Two High" Projects, proposing to resolutely curb the blind development of "two high" projects with high energy consumption and high emissions, stipulating that For the "two high" projects that have been completed and put into production, the elimination of backward production capacity will be accelerated, and those with potential for energy conservation and emission reduction will be transformed and upgraded. The "two high" industries also include the construction ceramics industry. What impact will this have on Shandong's construction ceramics industry?
At its peak, Shandong's two major production areas of Zibo and Linyi had more than 500 and more than 200 architectural ceramics production lines respectively, making them the second largest architectural ceramics production area in the country after Guangdong. Since 2014, after undergoing multiple rectifications such as environmental protection rectification, moving out of cities into parks, clean energy transformation, and elimination of backward production capacity, among the two major production areas in Shandong, there are only 35 ceramic construction companies left in Zibo and less than 20 in Linyi. . There are only more than 140 architectural ceramics production lines left in the province, and in terms of production capacity alone, they have fallen out of the top five in the country. However, the remaining ceramic enterprises are among the most advanced in the country in terms of production equipment and technology, as well as energy conservation and emission reduction.
Therefore, the "two high" requirements to eliminate backward production capacity may no longer have a substantial impact on Shandong's architectural ceramics industry.
Ceramic tile production shrank by 69% in 5 years
Also in the recently released "Shandong Province Building Materials Industry "14th Five-Year Plan" Development Plan (Draft for Comments)", the changes in the output of ceramic tiles in Shandong Province from 2015 to 2020 are listed: In 2015, the output of ceramic tiles in Shandong Province reached 880 million square meters meters, fell below 200 million square meters in 2018. After 2019, with the recovery of Zibo, the output gradually rebounded to 269 million square meters, but the output drop still reached 69% within 5 years.
Although the above statistics are quite different from those of various parties, the basic changing trends are consistent with local industrial policy adjustments and production cycles. According to data from the "2020 China Ceramic Ceramic Production Capacity Report", as of the end of 2020, ShandongThe province has 143 ceramic tile production lines with a daily production capacity of 2.4786 million square meters and an annual production capacity of about 700 million square meters. However, in 2020, Shandong Province resumed production late due to the epidemic and stopped production early at the end of the year. The production cycle of ceramic companies is generally 7 to 8 months, and the full-load production cycle is even shorter, so the actual output is far lower than the production capacity.
Focus on the development of thinner products
New products such as foam ceramics and permeable bricks
It is also by taking the lead in eliminating backward production capacity and realizing transformation and upgrading that the high-quality enterprises retained in Shandong have received government support. Since 2019, Zibo City has taken the lead in clearly stating that it "unswervingly supports the development of architectural ceramics." The "Draft for Comments" also expresses the basic attitude of supporting Shandong's architectural ceramics industry to become bigger and stronger.
The "Draft for Comments" proposes that during the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, two major industrial chains will be developed, four major industrial clusters will be optimized, and eight major industrial bases will be strengthened, including the two major ceramic industry bases in Linyi and Zibo. At the same time, the development priorities of the architectural ceramics industry are proposed, including:
Encourage key enterprises in building and sanitary ceramics to strengthen the cultivation of corporate brands and product brands, establish a corporate brand management system with quality and credibility as the core, and strengthen the construction of Shandong Province's building materials brand culture and brand promotion.
Encourage the development and application of ceramic thinning process equipment technology, focusing on the development of dry powdering, inkjet printing, additive manufacturing, ceramic raw material preparation control systems, press control systems, robot grouting repair, robot glazing, and product intelligence Technical equipment such as selection and packaging stacks will be inspected, and energy-saving renovation of kilns, spray drying towers and other equipment will be accelerated.
Focus on the development of foam ceramics, ceramic permeable bricks and other ceramic brick products developed from industrial waste and low-grade raw materials. Vigorously promote the thinning of ceramic tile products, and promote the application of new multi-functional varieties such as wear-resistant, stain-resistant, anti-slip, and thermal insulation.
